The Client
The Client is a global media and financial data company who operate in most countries in the world. The company has recently seen significant changes as it transformed from a federation of companies spread throughout the world to a single global entity. Although the business transformation was largely complete, the provision of IT services had not been aligned with the new operating model.

Xantus was engaged to assess the status of the service delivery model and develop a transformation strategy to match the new company structure.

Xantus' Approach
A data gathering exercise was undertaken to understand what technology existed, how it interfaced with the business and identify the actual costs. This reviewed all commercial supplier arrangements and service agreements.

Xantus' objective was to find a solution that provided a commercial approach, which fit the strategy recommendation while being flexible enough to match the changing business requirements.

The outcome was a detailed road map to build an efficient IT service delivery model. A six-step strategy to improve IT performance was based on 'best-in-class' delivery of IT services, it also articulated the journey to achieve further cost reductions through virtualisation and automation.

Xantus managed the engagement with the Client's strategic suppliers in order to understand the best practice models of the suppliers and the market place. This included solutions already delivered as well as some 'blue sky thinking'.

The Benefits
The strategy set out the requirements for the new global model and identified cost benefits. In addition, market trends were analysed to identify the market tradewinds that would enable transformation of the Client's service delivery model over the next 5 - 10 years. The high level Business Case produced outlined how the business could save more than 20% of its IT costs over three years by adopting the recommended service delivery model.
