Enterprise Applications are viewed by larger organisations as enablers to reduce cost and improve efficiency. But is it really that simple?
First things first: what are enterprise applications (EAs)? As more and more companies work across continents - with increasingly complex customer and supplier relationships, logistics, regulation, internal procedures and financial planning - they are looking to enterprise wide software to handle data, communication and resource management processes.
Enterprise Apps (EAs) are as varied as they are complex in the tasks they perform, ranging from core banking platforms to media buying, staff performance management to vegetable harvesting logistic controls. Their main common denominator is that they are designed to simplify the lives of the people that interact with them, as well as helping to reduce cost and improve business efficiency.
However, in order to simplify, it is important to understand the issues involved in developing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of Enterprise Applications. The purpose of this Xantus Insight paper is to help answer a number of frequently asked questions and unravel some of the complexities of enterprise software solutions.
